The Prototype Page
This is where I will show the inspiration for my modelling and railways in general.
I am not a photographer and my expertise is of the point, click and hope variety. Whilst I admire the people who take all day to get the perfect shot, life is too short and I prefer to get lots of memories.
In the early days you had to rely on luck (or lack of) to get a decent photo. At least now in the digital age it is easier to alter the image (or just send it to that little dustbin in the sky).

I apologise in advance for the quality of some of the photos, but as I say
I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER.

Let the journey begin.
The Early Days
In a blog entitled The Wanderings Of A Small Boy (see my blog page), I dealt with my memories of the real thing as captured in the 1950's in glorious black & white. Now a few years later and having joined the wonderful world of colour I start with an outing in the late 1970's to The Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth.
This was in the days when you could wander about these places without being molested by the elf & safety brigade.
On the mainline in the 1970's the majority of trains locally were hauled by Class 25's, 47's and Peaks. We even had coal trains still. In those days we didn't have all the security fencing - just a chain link fence that gave a nice clear view.
Look - diesels pretending to be steam engines
On one occasion I managed to catch the Royal Train headed by a pair of immaculate Class 25's. (My expertise !! with the camera is evident).
In the 1970's it was possible to park right next to the Great Western main line at Iver in Buckinghamshire. These photos show the variety of motive power that used this line from London to the west country.
This is the West Somerset Railway at Minehead in the late 1970's I believe.
